TAIPEI- Starlux Airlines (JX) has announced its next US destination, expanding its transpacific network.

Starting June 2025, the airline will introduce a new route between Taipei (TPE), Taiwan, and Ontario (ONT), California, further strengthening its presence in North America.

Starlux Taipei to Ontario Flights

According to AeroRoutes, Starlux Airlines (JX) will launch four weekly flights between Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Ontario International Airport (ONT) on June 2, 2025. The schedule is as follows:

Flight No. Departure Arrival Departure Time Arrival Time Frequency
JX10 Taipei (TPE) Ontario (ONT) 8:05 PM 5:05 PM Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat
JX09 Ontario (ONT) Taipei (TPE) 11:10 PM 4:15 AM (+2 days) Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat

This 6,831-mile route will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The eastbound flight is scheduled for 12 hours, while the westbound journey will take 14 hours and 5 minutes due to prevailing winds.

As with all Starlux flights to the US, the route will be serviced by the Airbus A350-900, configured with 306 seats: 4 in first class, 26 in business class, 36 in premium economy, and 240 in economy.

Starlux is known for its high-end service, particularly in premium cabins, making this an attractive option for travelers.

Ontario will become Starlux’s fourth US destination, following Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), and Seattle (SEA).

While tickets for the new route are not yet available, they are expected to go on sale soon.

This expansion highlights the strong demand for Taiwan-US travel, particularly in Southern California.

The Ontario area has a large Taiwanese-American community, making the route primarily focused on point-to-point traffic rather than connections to other US destinations.

Competition and Market Demand

Taiwan’s three major airlines—Starlux Airlines (JX), China Airlines (CA), and EVA Air (BR)—compete in the transpacific market.

China Airlines already operates this exact route, having launched it in 2018. The service has been successful, growing to daily frequency, indicating strong demand.

Historically, airports like Ontario have offered incentives for new long-haul routes, which likely played a role in Starlux’s decision.

It is notable that Ontario (ONT) now hosts two long-haul routes, both serving Taipei, despite limited intercontinental service overall.

Taiwan has a high volume of outbound travelers, with US routes being particularly busy. For example:

  • San Francisco sees up to seven daily flights on four airlines.
  • Los Angeles has up to seven daily flights on three airlines.
  • Seattle operates up to five daily flights on four airlines.

Beyond direct Taiwan-US travel, Taipei serves as a key Asia-Pacific transit hub, offering connections to other destinations across the region.

Bottom Line

Starlux Airlines will launch its Taipei (TPE)-Ontario (ONT) route in June 2025, expanding its US network.

The addition of Ontario highlights Southern California’s strong Taiwanese community and growing demand for transpacific travel.

With China Airlines already serving the route, competition will increase, benefiting travelers with more choices and premium service options.
