Delta Passengers Held Hostage By Singing Little Girl Amid 4-Hours Flight Delay

ATLANTA- Passengers on a Delta Air Lines (DL) flight to Orlando (MCO) endured a four-hour delay — and an unexpected performance — when a young girl sang “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana over the aircraft’s public address system.

While the impromptu rendition entertained some, others criticized both the parents and airline staff for allowing the child to use the intercom, typically reserved for safety announcements and emergencies.

Delta Flight Delay

The viral incident occurred aboard a Delta Air Lines flight that was first delayed two hours on the ground, then forced into a holding pattern over Orlando International Airport (MCO) for an additional two.

During this tense period, a young girl, reportedly accompanied by her mother, accessed the plane’s intercom and delivered a full two-minute performance of Disney’s Moana theme song.

The moment, captured and posted on TikTok by a user named Romeu, has since amassed over 12 million views.

The clip shows the girl standing near the crew area, holding the intercom handset typically reserved for flight attendants’ safety instructions. In the video, passengers can be heard reacting with mixed amusement and discomfort.

While the caption read, “But then a little girl sings Moana on the crew mic and suddenly everything feels okay,” the online response told a different story, The Tab reported.

Mixed Reactions

The video quickly sparked controversy. While some commenters praised the girl’s confidence and lightheartedness in a stressful situation, many criticized the parents for allowing such behavior and questioned Delta’s protocols.

Several online users emphasized that the PA system is not a toy, especially during an active flight delay.

Others were more scathing, likening the situation to being “trapped in a metal tube with a singing child.” One Reddit user humorously compared it to a horror film, while another joked they’d rather hear dire news from the pilot than endure the performance.

In online forums, self-identified passengers claimed to have been on the flight, although their stories remain unverified. The prevailing sentiment was that the airline crew and parents failed to exercise situational awareness, turning a delay into a moment of public discomfort.

Parental Responsibility

Much of the criticism fell on the child’s parents, particularly speculation that the mother, dubbed “Disney Mom” by some commenters, may have encouraged the act. Theories suggest the moment was intended to create a viral sensation, though no evidence confirms this intent.

Others pointed out that the child, likely too young to grasp the social dynamics of a confined and stressed group of travelers, may have simply acted out of innocence. Critics still maintain, however, that airline staff should not have permitted access to the PA system without good reason.

This incident has reignited conversations around parenting etiquette on flights and the responsibilities of airline personnel in maintaining cabin order during delays.
