HYDERABAD- Dassault Aviation has signed four major Production Transfer Agreements with Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) to manufacture complete Rafale fighter jet fuselages in India.
The new production facility will be located in Hyderabad (HYD), positioning India as a critical hub in the global aerospace supply chain.
The agreement will enable the production of key structural components of the Rafale, including the front, central, and rear fuselage sections.
The facility is expected to start deliveries by FY2028, with a capacity to manufacture up to two full fuselages each month.

Tata to Make Dassault Rafale in India
For the first time, Dassault Aviation will manufacture Rafale fighter jet fuselages outside of France. This move marks a pivotal shift in the company’s global supply chain strategy and reinforces its commitment to India’s ‘Make in India’ and AtmaNirbhar Bharat initiatives.
Under the agreement, Tata Advanced Systems will establish a state-of-the-art production plant in Hyderabad. The facility will produce key fuselage segments such as the lateral shells of the rear fuselage, the full rear section, the central fuselage, and the front section—all to be delivered with high precision and quality assurance to Dassault standards.
Dassault Aviation Chairman and CEO Eric Trappier emphasized the significance of this international expansion, stating, “This is a decisive step in strengthening our supply chain in India… with TASL contributing to the successful ramp-up of the Rafale while meeting our quality and competitiveness requirements.”
Sukaran Singh, CEO and MD of TASL, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, noting that it represents deepening trust in India’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities and global readiness.
The Hyderabad facility is more than just an assembly plant—it is a strategic investment in India’s aerospace future. With the ability to produce complete fighter jet fuselages domestically, India is moving closer to becoming a self-reliant defense manufacturing hub.
This development is expected to generate skilled employment, facilitate knowledge transfer, and elevate India’s position as a dependable aerospace supplier on the global stage. It also boosts India’s ability to support not only domestic defense needs but also international platforms.
