LAS VEGAS- A Frontier Airlines (F9) plane caught fire while landing at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas on Saturday afternoon (October 5, 2024).
Passengers captured the dramatic scene on cell phones, showing flames and smoke erupting from the aircraft’s undercarriage as it touched down.

Emergency responders quickly mobilized, with fire trucks and other vehicles racing to the runway. Smoke continued to billow around the plane as it came to a stop.
Airport officials confirmed the incident, stating that Frontier flight 1326 experienced a hard landing. The Clark County Fire Department immediately responded, and all passengers and crew were safely evacuated to the terminal area. Remarkably, no injuries were reported.
The flight, which originated from San Diego (SAN), departed at 1:51 p.m. Pacific Time and landed in Las Vegas at 3:37 p.m., according to flight tracking data.
The aircraft involved in the incident is Airbus A321-200, registered as N701FR. Further it is a nine-year-old aircraft, and it is powered by CFM engines.
Frontier Airlines provided additional details, explaining that the pilots detected smoke during the landing process at approximately 3:15 p.m. PT. They declared an emergency and successfully landed the aircraft.
All 190 passengers and seven crew members were evacuated using airstairs and subsequently transported to the terminal by bus.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. As a precautionary measure, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) implemented a ground stop until 7 p.m. and continues to investigate the incident.

A Ryanair (FR) Boeing 737 caught fire at Brindisi Airport (BDS) in southern Italy on Thursday, October 3, 2024, leading to the evacuation of over 180 passengers and crew. The incident occurred during taxiing for takeoff on flight FR8826, bound for Turin (TRN).
Airport officials confirmed the fire, which caused a temporary halt to air traffic. Ryanair reported to CNN that all 184 passengers and crew safely evacuated on the runway after cabin crew observed fumes outside the aircraft. Passengers were bussed back to the terminal.
The fire originated from issues with the right-side engines. All Ryanair aircraft use CFM engines. The airport reopened approximately three hours after the incident, according to its website.
Ryanair replaced the affected Boeing 737-800 with a Boeing 737 MAX 8-200, registered as 9H-VUW, to continue the service to Turin.
This event marks the third incident involving Ryanair aircraft in recent days. On October 1, 2024, a Ryanair flight from Barcelona (BCN) experienced a tire blowout upon landing at Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY), causing a temporary closure. Passengers disembarked normally, and engineers inspected the aircraft.
Previously, on August 26, a Ryanair Boeing 737 suffered a dramatic engine flameout at Edinburgh Airport (EDI) while preparing for takeoff to Milan.
