Emirates Pilots Abort Take-off

The Emirates (EK) Boeing 777 operating a scheduled service from Chennai (MAA) to Dubai (DXB) was forced to abandon its take-off on Sunday after a last-minute technical snag.

As the aircraft moved along the taxiway in preparation for departure, the flight crew noticed a system anomaly and immediately contacted air traffic control to halt operations.

Following the pilot’s decision, airport emergency response teams were deployed, and the aircraft was towed back to its designated gate. Engineers from Emirates’ maintenance team initiated diagnostics to address the issue.

There were 312 passengers onboard the flight at the time. For safety and procedural reasons, passengers were kept seated during initial troubleshooting. However, as the fault persisted, the airline made the decision to cancel the flight at 12:20 PM IST.

In the aftermath of the cancellation, Emirates arranged for all passengers to be transported to local hotels across Chennai. Those with time-sensitive travel plans were rerouted via alternate Emirates flights departing later the same day.

The airline later confirmed that the cancelled flight would be rescheduled for departure either late Sunday evening or early Monday morning, depending on aircraft availability and maintenance clearance.

Emirates issued apologies to affected passengers and reiterated its commitment to safety as a top priority.
