ANA has the following requirements for its first officers.
- Total Flight Experience in excess of 3,000 hours
- Commercial Jet Experience in excess of 500 hours
- 250 hrs. PIC -or-

- >500 hrs. PICUS/P1 Pilot Under Supervision.
- 100 hrs. PIC Cross Country;
- 200 hrs. Cross Country;

- 75 hrs. Instrument Flight;
- Valid ICAO Member State ATPL
- ICAO Level 4 English or higher (English Proficient Endorsement)
- ICAO Valid Jet Aircraft Type Rating (SIC/Co-pilot Jet Type Ratings accepted)
- Valid ICAO Command Instrument Rating
- Valid ICAO Class 1 Medical Certificate
Meanwhile, captains are expected to fulfill the following criteria depending on whether they are working for a Japanese airline or not.
For those residing in Japan and currently working for a Japanese airline.
In principle, applicants must hold the following certificates issued by a Japanese authority that are valid at the time of application and at the time of joining Air Japan.
- ATPL
- Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate
- Aviation English Language Proficiency Certificate (Level 4 or above). English proficiency is required for duty performance
- Aviation Medical Certificate (Class 1)

For those currently working for a non-Japanese airline.
Proof of Japanese residence, arranged personally, must be submitted by a date specified by Air Japan before joining the company. In principle, applicants must hold the following certificates that are valid at the time of application and at the time of joining Air Japan.

Applicants are required to hold ATPL and Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate issued by a Japanese authority at the time of application, even if they are currently working for a non-Japanese airline. - Aviation English Language Proficiency Certificate (Level 4 or above). For the Aviation English Language Proficiency Certificate and the Class 1 aviation medical certificate, the ICAO license is acceptable for application. However, applicants are required to obtain them issued by a Japanese authority by the end of April 2025 at your own arrangement. - Minimum of 2,500 hours of PIC time (including a minimum of 1,000 hours of PIC time with Japanese airlines on JET aircraft)
