DUBAI- Emirates Airlines (EK) cabin crew member faces backlash after publicly criticizing a Thai influencer’s portrayal of first-class amenities during a short Bangkok (BKK) to Hong Kong (HKG) flight aboard the airline’s flagship Airbus A380.
The social media personality, known as Bifern, who boasts 1.5 million TikTok followers, created content showcasing Emirates’ premium offerings including the shower spa, caviar service, and sleeping accommodations—all compressed into what was actually just a two-hour journey, PYOK reported.

Emirates Crew Mocks Passenger
The incident highlights the growing tension between curated social media content and reality in the luxury travel space. The Emirates crew member left multiple comments on Bifern’s video, seemingly frustrated by how the influencer’s edited content misrepresented the typical first-class experience on such a short route.
“All this…. 2 hours. 14 Passengers,” wrote the flight attendant in one comment, apparently referencing the rushed service required to accommodate all passengers in the limited flight time.
The crew member continued with additional remarks: “She’s good at making clips. It looks like a DXB-SFO flight that takes 15 hours,” and “Two hours, shower, eat, sleep. When did you sleep? I don’t know. You even had time to curl your hair. Please.”
The controversy extends beyond just the content of Bifern’s video to questions of professional conduct in the airline industry. While the flight attendant’s observations about the timeline were factually accurate—the influencer’s video did compress multiple experiences into what would have been impossible in real-time—the public nature of the criticism has raised concerns.
A former flight attendant turned social media commentator weighed in on the situation, questioning the judgment of leaving negative comments from an identifiable professional account: “Why would you leave a negative comment to start with and why would you leave a negative comment from a profile that has your full name, that has the information of the airline you work for, that could get you in trouble… it’s mind-boggling to me!”
The incident illustrates the common practice of content creators presenting idealized versions of travel experiences. Bifern’s video showed her enjoying virtually every premium amenity Emirates offers in its first-class suite—from the signature shower spa to the multi-course dining experience and premium bedding—creating an impression of a much longer journey.

Similar Incident
A former Emirates flight attendant inadvertently triggered an airline investigation of her entire crew after posting behind-the-scenes footage on YouTube.
Amanda King, who had already resigned from the airline, created a video documenting her work life during flights to and from Shanghai. While intended as an inside look at the profession, the content revealed several protocol violations that caught Emirates’ attention.
According to sources familiar with the situation, King’s video showed multiple policy breaches, including baking a cake onboard the aircraft and allowing her boyfriend access to the restricted crew rest area during the flight. She also admitted to switching her assigned jumpseat to sit closer to her boyfriend during takeoff and landing procedures.
Emirates reportedly took issue with additional content showing the location of safety equipment and emergency supplies. The airline launched an investigation targeting other crew members for failing to report these violations upon returning to Dubai.
In an official statement to Aviation A2Z, Emirates said:
Emirates is aware of the video mentioned and had investigated the matter at the time. We can confirm that no crew was dismissed as a result.”

The incident highlights the growing tension between flight attendants’ desire to share their professional lives online and airlines’ strict operational and safety protocols. For many cabin crew members, social media sharing has become increasingly common, though it can lead to employment consequences when company policies are compromised in the process.
