ANCHORAGE- An Alaska Airlines (AS) Boeing 737 veered off a taxiway at Alaska’s major airport on Wednesday afternoon (January 8, 2025) during a maintenance procedure.

The incident occurred at 1:43 p.m. when two airline mechanics were repositioning the aircraft to a parking location.

Alaska Department of Transportation (DOT) Communications Director Shannon McCarthy confirms the incident qualifies as a level-one occurrence, categorizing it as minor.

The aircraft deviated into a ditch within a testing area, preventing any disruption to regular airport operations or flight schedules, Alaska News Source Reported.

Alaska Airlines spokesperson Tim Thompson confirms no passengers occupied the aircraft during the incident.
