DUBAI- In a landmark initiative coinciding with World Teachers’ Day 2025, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has awarded long-term UAE Golden Visas to more than 200 exceptional educators.
The directive, aligning with Dubai’s broader education and talent-retention goals, highlights the emirate’s continued commitment to recognizing teachers as the foundation of its knowledge-driven future.

Recognizing Excellence in Education
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that educators are central to building Dubai’s intellectual and social capital.
The announcement follows Sheikh Hamdan’s pledge during last year’s World Teachers’ Day to expand the Golden Visa program to include educators.
The move celebrates the critical role of teachers in shaping Dubai’s global educational identity and strengthens the city’s mission to become an international hub for academic excellence.
Seikh was quoted in The Times of India, as having said:
Teachers are the ones who light the way forward. Their guidance shapes generations and strengthens the future of our nation…By awarding the Golden Visa, Dubai reaffirms its appreciation for knowledge, integrity, and service.
The first phase of implementation has now been completed, with 223 recipients selected from 435 applicants across early childhood centres, schools, and universities.
The process was merit-based, ensuring that nationality, gender, or tenure were not factors in selection. Evaluation criteria focused on professional achievements, academic contributions, and community impact.

Golden Visa Selection Basis
Among the recipients, 157 were from schools, 60 from universities, and 6 from early childhood institutions. The selected educators include teachers, administrators, and education support staff who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to students and society.
Applicants with published research, international recognition, or significant community engagement received additional weight in the review process.
The initiative reinforces Dubai’s goal of attracting and retaining top-tier educational professionals as part of its long-term education roadmap.
Officials noted that the program is an extension of the UAE’s larger Golden Visa framework, which rewards excellence in key sectors such as science, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and now, education.
The move aligns with Dubai’s Education 33 (E33) Strategy, which seeks to position the UAE as a global destination for educational innovation and expertise.
Following the successful rollout of the first phase, applications for the second round will open from October 15 to December 15, 2025. Eligible candidates include educators currently working in private schools, early childhood centers, and higher education institutions across Dubai.

Bottom Line
By honouring more than 200 educators with long-term residency, Dubai reinforces its dedication to educational excellence and social progress.
The initiative not only celebrates teachers’ contributions but also ensures that the city continues to attract and retain global talent that will shape its next generation.
