Lufthansa to Restart Munich-Riyadh Flights

The route will operate three times a week, with flight LH640 departing Munich at 9:45 p.m. and arriving in Riyadh at 4:50 a.m. local time the next day.

The return service will depart Riyadh at 6:25 a.m. and land in Munich at 10:25 a.m., allowing passengers seamless onward connections via Lufthansa’s Munich hub. The flights will be operated by the Airbus A350-900, offering 293 seats across three cabins, after an 8-year hiatus.

Alongside Eurowings (EW) and ITA Airways (AZ), the Lufthansa Group will serve Riyadh (RUH), Dammam (DMM), and Jeddah (JED) with 22 weekly departures in total.

Across the Middle East, Lufthansa Group airlines will operate more than 120 flights each week, strengthening connections between Europe and the region.

The Airbus A350-900 is one of the most modern and fuel-efficient long-haul aircraft in operation. It offers reduced cabin noise, improved air quality, and a spacious interior layout with Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes.

The schedule’s early-morning arrival in Munich is designed to align with Lufthansa’s global network, enabling smooth transfers to destinations across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

Riyadh Travel Guide

Saudi Arabia’s capital (RUH) is emerging as both a tourism hotspot and a global aviation player. Its new flag carrier, Riyadh Air (RX), is preparing for its first flights in 2025, marking a bold step in the Kingdom’s (KSA) plans to expand international connectivity.

Set on a desert plateau, Riyadh blends historical landmarks and modern skyscrapers with golden dunes just beyond the city. Now, with new hotels, attractions, and an international airline in the works, the city is positioning itself as a must-visit destination.

The Sky Bridge: A Panoramic Landmark

Suspended 300 meters above the city, the Sky Bridge at Kingdom Centre offers sweeping views of Riyadh’s skyline and the Arabian desert. Visitors cross a glass-floored walkway linking the tower’s two peaks, capturing the scale of the city’s rapid growth.

National Museum of Saudi Arabia: Cultural Insights

Inside a striking modernist building, the National Museum showcases artefacts spanning ancient civilisations to modern times. Highlights include Nabataean tomb replicas from Madain Saleh, rock carvings, and rare textiles. Outdoor exhibits further explore Saudi Arabia’s natural landscapes and archaeological history.

Al Masmak Palace: Historic Fortress

Built in the 19th century, Al Masmak Palace played a pivotal role in Riyadh’s history. It was here that Ibn Saʿūd reclaimed the city in 1902, a turning point in the Kingdom’s formation. Today, visitors can explore its sand-coloured walls, historic photographs, and an on-site museum detailing early Saudi life.

Wadi Namar: Urban Oasis

Located beside the 2 km Namar Dam, Wadi Namar offers green spaces, a lake, and walking paths that stretch over 2,000 meters. With picnic spots, food stalls, and family play areas, it’s a popular escape from the city’s bustle.

Boulevard Riyadh City: Entertainment Hub

The city’s largest entertainment complex, Boulevard Riyadh City, mixes luxury shopping, dining, and leisure activities. Attractions include theatre shows, go-karting, skiing in the snow zone, and a dancing fountain that draws crowds nightly.
