IndiGo Signs Maintenance Agreement with Thales

Under the terms of the agreement, Thales will provide avionics repair services through its advanced ‘Avionics-By-The-Hour’ and ‘Repair-By-The-Hour’ programs. These programs are designed to ensure critical components remain available and functional, significantly reducing aircraft downtime.

All maintenance and repair operations will be conducted at Thales’s newly established Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Gurugram.

The facility is equipped with cutting-edge repair technology and staffed by specialized technicians capable of handling the complex avionics systems used across IndiGo’s Airbus fleet.

Parichay Datta, Senior Vice-President of Engineering at IndiGo, was elated with the partnership and was quoted in The Economic Times:

We are pleased to partner with Thales, a global leader in aerospace technology, to augment IndiGo’s maintenance and repair capabilities. This collaboration strengthens our operational reliability, safety, and passenger experience.

The deal represents one of the largest avionics maintenance collaborations in India and aligns with the growing demand for reliable, in-country MRO services.

With the Indian aviation market expanding rapidly, partnerships like this are critical to maintaining high operational standards while keeping aircraft in service efficiently.

Thomas Got, Vice President of Aviation Global Services at Thales, added,

Our new Gurugram MRO facility demonstrates our commitment to providing world-class avionics support in India. The strategic partnership with IndiGo allows us to offer rapid, reliable repair services and respond effectively to the evolving demands of the Indian aviation industry.

Efficiency with AvioBook Flight

In addition to the maintenance agreement, IndiGo has renewed a five-year contract with Thales for its electronic flight bag solution, AvioBook Flight. Approved by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), this paperless cockpit system is operational across IndiGo’s fleet.

The AvioBook system will help manage over 2,000 daily flights and also allows pilots to access all flight-related documents digitally, streamlining workflows and improving operational accuracy.

By integrating advanced avionics maintenance with digital cockpit solutions, IndiGo is able to strengthen both its in-flight reliability and ground-based operational efficiency.
