TAIPEI- EVA Air (BR) has strengthened its Airbus fleet commitment by exercising options for six more A350-1000s and three A321neos. The deal, valued at approximately $3.1 billion at list prices, was revealed in a March 12 stock exchange filing.

This expansion builds upon EVA Air’s existing orderbook of 18 A350s and 15 A321neos, initially announced in November 2023 and confirmed in January 2024. The new aircraft will replace the Taiwanese carrier’s ageing Boeing 777-300ERs and A321ceos.

Eva Air Orders 9 More Airbus Planes

With this order, all major Taiwanese carriers now operate A350 aircraft. China Airlines (CI) and Starlux (JX) currently fly the smaller A350-900 variant, with Starlux also holding orders for the A350-1000.

EVA Air has not specified a delivery timeline for these newly ordered aircraft.

The fleet expansion coincides with EVA Air’s release of strong financial results for 2024. The carrier reported a 31% increase in operating profit to NT$38.7 billion ($1.17 billion). Revenue grew by 10.3% to NT$221 billion, outpacing the 6% rise in costs to NT$167 billion.

This robust financial position has enabled the airline to accelerate its fleet modernization plans while maintaining operational efficiency during the post-pandemic travel recovery.

Strategic Partnership with Air Macau (NX) Enhances Regional Connectivity

In a strategic move to strengthen its regional network, EVA Air has established a codeshare agreement with Air Macau (NX) covering routes between Taiwan (TPE) and Macau (MFM). EVA Air currently operates 21 weekly flights connecting Taipei (TPE) and Kaohsiung (KHH) to Macau (MFM), while Air Macau provides more than 40 weekly flights from Macau to Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung.

The Airline states that this partnership will “greatly increase the flexibility of flights between Taiwan and Macau” and enable passengers to connect to Air Macau’s additional destinations in China.

Recent Service Enhancements and Sustainability Initiatives

EVA Air has recently implemented several service enhancements across its network. The carrier introduced upgraded business-class amenities on its long-haul routes in early 2025, featuring new bedding materials and premium dining options crafted by renowned international chefs.

The airline has also expanded its digital service offerings with an enhanced mobile app that streamlines the booking process and provides real-time flight updates and personalized travel recommendations.

On the sustainability front, EVA Air has committed to reducing its carbon emissions by 25% by 2030 compared to 2019 levels. The acquisition of fuel-efficient A350 and A321neo aircraft represents a significant component of this environmental strategy.
