DUBAI- Flag carrier of the UAE, Emirates Airline (EK), has made Bahrain International Airport (BAH) the first destination in its global network to be exclusively served by the Airbus A350. The milestone was reached with the arrival of the airline’s third A350 on June 2, 2025.

With the introduction of a third daily A350-operated flight between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Bahrain, all Emirates flights to the Kingdom are now operated exclusively by this next-generation aircraft.

Emirates Deploys A350 to Bahrain

The third daily Emirates A350 flight, EK835, departed Dubai at 0200 hrs and landed in Bahrain at 0215 hrs, with the return leg EK836 departing Bahrain at 0340 hrs and reaching Dubai at 0605 hrs.

This move is part of the airline’s broader strategy to modernize its fleet and elevate the customer experience through its ‘Fly Better’ initiative.

The A350-900 features a three-class configuration: 32 lie-flat Business Class seats (1-2-1 layout), 21 Premium Economy seats (2-3-2 layout), and 259 Economy Class seats (3-3-3 layout).

The aircraft is designed to deliver superior cabin comfort with higher ceilings, quieter interiors, wider aisles, and advanced lighting systems.

Passengers can enjoy Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice, which now offers a more cinematic viewing experience, enhanced by faster onboard Wi-Fi.

The exclusive use of the A350 on Bahrain routes reinforces Emirates’ commitment to the Kingdom and reflects growing demand for enhanced passenger experiences in short- and medium-haul markets.

The A350 is already serving other destinations such as Amman (AMM), Kuwait (KWI), Edinburgh (EDI), Mumbai (BOM), Ahmedabad (AMD), Colombo (CMB), and Tunis (TUN).

Emirates plans to expand A350 operations to 17 destinations worldwide by the end of 2025, further solidifying its position as a leader in fleet modernization and passenger service innovation.

Resume Services to Damascus

Emirates will restart flights to Damascus International Airport (DAM) from 16 July 2025*, marking the return of services after a 13-year suspension.

The decision follows a full evaluation in coordination with the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). Initial operations will begin with three weekly flights on Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday, expanding to daily service from 26 October 2025*.

Flights will be operated using the Boeing 777-200LR, configured with 38 Business Class seats (2-2-2) and 264 Economy Class seats.

The outbound EK913 will depart Dubai at 1200 hrs and arrive in Damascus at 1410 hrs local time. The return EK914 will depart at 1630 hrs, landing back in Dubai at 2030 hrs.

The resumption of flights aligns with broader UAE-Syria efforts to strengthen economic and cultural ties. UAE-Syria trade volume reached USD 680 million (AED 2.5 billion) in 2024, up 23% year-over-year. These renewed air links are expected to further stimulate trade, investment, and tourism.

Emirates will complement its Damascus services with a codeshare agreement with flydubai, enhancing connection options across its 150-destination global network. This expansion supports the large Syrian diaspora and opens new travel and business channels in the region.

A Legacy of Service and Connectivity

Emirates first launched services to Damascus in 1988 and carried over 2.1 million passengers before suspending operations in 2012.

The airline currently operates 191 weekly flights to 13 cities across the Middle East and GCC, with Damascus now set to rejoin the network pending final approvals.

Passengers on the Damascus route can enjoy Emirates’ full suite of amenities, including Levantine cuisine, premium beverages, and access to over 6,500 entertainment channels via the ice system, featuring 650+ Arabic language options.
