GURUGRAM- We have been reporting for almost a year that Tata Group-owned Air India (AI) is planning to launch some new destinations including Boston (BOS), Dallas (DFW), Dublin (DUB), Los Angeles (LAX), Manila (MNL), Jakarta (CGK), and others.
However, officials aware of the new developments have revealed to BusinessLine that Air India can launch DFW, LAX, MNL, and CGK in 2025.
Air India New Destinations in 2025
Sources told BusinessLine that Air India will launch flights to five new international destinations in 2025, expanding its global network based on aircraft availability. The airline targets Manila, Jakarta, Dallas, and Los Angeles as additions to its existing 45 international destinations. One more is still in the development stage and will be announced whenever it is at the confirmation stage.
Supply chain constraints currently affect fleet expansion, yet airline sources express optimism about aircraft deliveries enabling new route launches in 2025.
The Southeast Asian destinations, Manila and Jakarta, will see service initiation in early 2025, while flights to Dallas and Los Angeles will commence later in the year.
Recent Boeing manufacturing strikes have impacted Air India’s expansion timeline, prompting the carrier to modify its 2025 network growth strategy, according to Air India Group’s Managing Director & CEO Campbell Wilson.
Strong international passenger demand drives Air India’s route expansion initiative. The carrier has achieved significant growth in its international operations since the Tata Group assumed management control in 2022, doubling its international capacity.
Analysis of Potential Routes
It’s no secret that Air India is planning three hubs in India. The Gurugram-based carrier has solidified its Delhi Hub (DEL) and will further strengthen it in 2025.
While Mumbai (BOM) and Bengaluru (BLR) hubs will be developed in the coming years. Especially the Bengaluru hub, which has huge potential and many unserved markets.

Well, According to Aviation A2Z sources, Air India is also rumored to launch new flights from Bengaluru to Frankfurt and Melbourne. However, the exact timeline is yet to be revealed.
Based on Air India’s current situation, the airline can launch non-stop flights from Delhi to Dallas, Los Angeles, Manila, and Jakarta. Further, it can also plan Mumbai to Manila and Jakarta flights.
Air India potential routes:
DEL | DFW | 354° | (N) | 353° | (N) | 8,186 mi |
DEL | LAX | 014° | (N) | 013° | (N) | 8,013 mi |
DEL | MNL | 099° | (E) | 098° | (E) | 2,968 mi |
DEL | CGK | 136° | (SE) | 135° | (SE) | 3,093 mi |
BOM | MNL | 088° | (E) | 088° | (E) | 3,196 mi |
BOM | CGK | 124° | (SE) | 124° | (SE) | 2,882 m |
Many of the above-mentioned routes are currently unserved and can become monopoly routes for the airline. Air India already enjoys a monopoly on a majority of Long-haul routes as some foreign airlines hesitate to offer direct flights due to many challenges, the major being the Russian airspace closure for Western carriers.
We will soon make a detailed analysis post based on point-to-point passenger traffic on potential 2025 routes from Air India’s main and developing hubs.
Also with new international codeshare deals and interline agreements, Air India can strengthen its international offerings in 2025.
